The driver rankings of the Canadian Grand Prix 2019

20. Lando Norris DNF                   McLaren 

Lando Norris had a good Qualifying, he qualified eight. At the start of the race he had some battles with Verstappen, and drove a good race. But then at lap 9 he had a weird accident. He had a broken rear-right wheel, it seemed the like Norris might have hit the wall of champions. But his rear brakes were so hot that the suspension melted.

19. Alexander Albon DNF         Toro Rosso 

Alexander Albon qualified fourteenth. At the first lap of the race he was sandwiched by Giovinazzi and Pérez, his front wing broke off and he had to pit. He had much damage and had to retire the car. 

Rate: 6.5/10

18. Robert Kubica                          Williams 

Robert Kubica qualified last for the seventh time in a row this season. In the race he couldn't keep up with his team-mate and the other cars and finished eighteenth. 

Rate: 6/10

17. Kevin Magnussen                          Haas 

Kevin Magnussen had a big crash in qualifying, he hit the wall of Champions. Fortunately he walked away without any injuries. He qualified tenth, but started from the pit-lane. In the race it didn't get much better and he finished seventeenth.   

Rate: 6/10

16. George Russell                        Williams 

George Russell qualified nineteenth, and out-qualified his team-mate for the seventh time in a row. In the race he maximized his package and finished sixteenth. 

Rate: 7/10

15. Kimi Räikkönen                  Alfa Romeo 

Kimi Räikkönen qualified seventeenth. In the race he struggled and he wasn't happy about his race afterwards. He finished fifteenth. A disappointing weekend for him. 

Rate: 6/10

14. Romain Grosjean                           Haas 

Romain Grosjean qualified fifteenth. He didn't make it into Q3 due the crash of his team-mate Magnussen. He couldn't complete his lap. At the first lap he collided with Albon, but could continue. He finished fourteenth. 

Rate: 7/10

13. Antonio Giovinazzi             Alfa Romeo 

Antonio Giovinazzi had a pretty good qualifying and made it into Q2. He qualified thirteenth this weekend in Montreal. He drove a solid race and finished thirteenth. 

Rate: 7/10

12. Sergio Pérez                     Racing Point 

Sergio Pérez didn't have a very good qualification, he qualified sixteenth. In the race it went better. He made a nice move on Grosjean. But didn't have the best strategy. He finished twelfth. 

Rate: 7/10

11. Carlos Sainz                             McLaren 

Carlos Sainz qualified ninth but had to start twelfth because he got a three-place grid penalty for blocking Albon. In the race he had to pit early on lap three because of a tear-off stuck in a brake duct. Because of that he couldn't get into the points. 

Rate: 6.5/10

10. Daniil Kvyat                          Toro Rosso 

Daniil Kvyat qualified twelfth, but could start tenth because of the grid penalty from Sainz and the pit-lane start from Magnussen. He drove a very good race and made some nice moves on Sainz and Magnussen. He finished tenth. A very good weekend for him.

9. Lance Stroll                         Racing Point 

Lance Stroll didn't make it into Q2 for the eleventh time in a row, he qualified eighteenth. But he drove a really good race. He overtook many people and finished ninth. A good home-race for him.  

Rate: 8/10

8. Pierre Gasly                                 Red Bull 

Pierre Gasly qualified fifth, in front of Bottas and behind Ricciardo with a gap of 0.008 seconds. In the race he pitted early and dropped back to the thirteenth place, he made his way up trough the field, but couldn't get past the Renault's. 

Rate: 6.5/10

7. Nico Hülkenberg                         Renault 

It was a good weekend for Renault. Nico Hülkenberg had a good qualifying and qualified seventh. He drove a solid race and finished seventh behind his team-mate. 

Rate: 7.5/10

6. Daniel Ricciardo                          Renault 

Daniel Ricciardo had a very good weekend in Canada. He had a very good qualifying and qualified fourth. In the race he only let Bottas and Verstappen by and managed to finish sixth. He drove a very good race.  

Rate: 8.5/10

5. Max Verstappen                         Red Bull 

Max Verstappen missed out on Q3 because he couldn't complete his last lap due the crash of Magnussen. He qualified eleventh, but could start ninth. In the beginning of the race he struggled to get past Norris but eventually got past him. He drove a solid race and finished fifth. 

Rate: 7.5/10

4. Valtteri Bottas                          Mercedes 

Valtteri Bottas didn't have a really good qualification, he almost crashed his car in Q3 but managed to keep his car out of the wall. He qualified sixth. In the race he struggled a bit but managed to finish fourth, he also got the fastest lap of the race. 

Rate: 7.5/10

3. Charles Leclerc                             Ferrari 

Charles Leclerc had a good qualifying this weekend. He qualified third. He drove a solid race and finished third. His second podium in his Formula 1 career.

Rate: 7.5/10

2. Sebastian Vettel                            Ferrari 

Sebastian Vettel had a good Qualifying and got his first pole-position of the season. He had a good start and kept his first place, but then at lap 48 Vettel went off and came on the grass. He managed to keep his car on the track but he got a 5-second penalty for rejoining the track unsafely. So he finished first, but got classified second. 

Rate: 8/10

1. Lewis Hamilton                        Mercedes 

Lewis Hamilton qualified second. In the race he couldn't get past Vettel and crossed the line in second place. But due the 5-second penalty of Vettel he won the Canadian Grand Prix. 

Rate: 7.5/10
